Initially, the competition was established in 1888 as The Football League. However, on February 20, 1992 this competition has been established as the FA Premier League (English Football Association).
Premier League has been sponsored since 1993. in the early primary stand sponsored by Carling league(FA Carling Premiership) until 2001. in the period 2001-2005, the Premier league sponsored by Barclaycard(Barclaycard Premiership), year 2004-2007, the league is sponsored by Barclays(Barclays Premiership) and the start of 2007 until presen the competition is sponsored by Barclays with the format name of the Barclays Premier League.
