Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger revealed his interest in the Tottenham midfielder Luca Modric, even before coming to Tottenham Spurs, Wenger was targeting Modric in the january transfer.
Currently, Arsenal are in desperate need of a quarterback who can replace the role of Fabregas, who went on the transfer early last season, Arteta's presence is considered not able to fill the team's shortcomings.
“We knew Modric before Tottenham knew him, Wenger told reporters on Friday. We played against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League [in August 2006] and he played in the same team as Eduardo against us."
"He is very mobile. I'm not surprised how well Modric has done, I knew he would do well."
"At the time we had [Cesc] Fabregas, not a bad player. But we were interested in Modric", said Wenger.
