The last time these two sides met, Wigan enjoyed the greatest day in their history as Ben Watson's goal gave Manchester City a shock 1-0 victory in the FA Cup final last years.
New Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is currently basking in the glory of the stunning derby day demolition of Manchester United and his side seem to have hit their stride after the shock of losing away at Cardiff in August.
Wigan athletic shrugged off playing away in Belgium on their European debut on Thursday night by comfortably beating Ipswich on Sunday. Manager Owen Coyle knows what a tricky challenge it is going to be trying to balance the demands of a promotion push as well as playing a minimum of six matches in the Europa League, defending the FA Cup and playing in this competition.
POSSIBILITY FORMATION
Manchester City Squad : 4-2-3-1
Pantilimon, Richards, Boyata, Lescott, Clichy, Milner, Fernandinho, Garcia, Lopes, Dzeko, Jovetic.
